No – Invisalign braces is a great system that gently and predictably moves your teeth around you mouth. Our patient don’t feel any pain, you are only sometimes aware of a little tightness, which is great cause you know your teeth are moving!
The length of treatment really depends on your individual situation, and which tier of Invisalign you are suitable for. We generally find that Invisalign Lite patients tend to finish treatment in around 6 months, and Invisalign Comprehensive patients tend to finish treatment in around 9-12 months. However this is something that your dentist can confirm when they see you.
It’s really easy actually. You brush and floss your teeth as normal, twice a day, and the aligners are cleaned with your toothbrush and water. We’ll also give you some cleaning tablets after your virtually invisible aligners are finished if that’s helpful too.
Your invisalign treatment plan is something the dentist will advise you after comprehensively assessing your teeth, smile, bite, and the goals you want to achieve. We will always advise what orthodontic treatment is best for your clinical and personal situation. This is because only certain teeth may be suitable.
Once you have approved your plan, and your custom aligners are made and fitted, you will need to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day, and change to the next aligner series in every 7-14 days as instructed by your dentist.
After your Invisalign treatment is complete, we highly recommend use of retainers (either plastic removable and/or metal fixed) to hold your teeth in the desired position. Without retainers, your teeth may relapse into a different position. You will receive plastic retainers included within your Invisalign aligners treatment package.
